Director – Power Generation
Steve Cooper is currently Director – Power Generator of Quartzelec Ltd. A technical authority in the
field of rotating electrical machines the company has workshop facilities throughout the UK, Europe,
Middle East, Malaysia and the Philippines. Mr Cooper has been with Quartzelec for over 25 years and
has overseen many significant repairs to HV Generators upto around 660MW from across the world.
Mr Cooper has overseen and performed RCA inspections and analysis for significant stator and rotor
failures world-wide, including generator component repairs which the OEM deemed to be scrap.
Mr Cooper was professionally trained in the UK as a Marine Engineering Officer holding the position
of Chief Engineer Officer with Cunard Line for several years prior to specialising in large HV
generators. He is familiar with most generator design and operating issues from all major OEMs
including GE, Siemens, Alstom, Brush, Toshiba and Mitsubishi.
