About PROF. VIAN AHMED

Professor Vian Ahmed is a Professor of Industrial Engineering at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) and the Founder and Chair of the College of Engineering Women in Engineering (WiE) Society. She is a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

With over 25 years of academic and industrial experience in the UK and internationally, Professor Ahmed has an extensive background in higher education, research, academic leadership, and postgraduate education. She has held several senior academic leadership positions in the UK, particularly in doctoral education and postgraduate research. Her academic and research expertise spans engineering management, construction project management, digital technologies, sustainability, and innovation. She has an extensive record of doctoral supervision, scholarly publications, research initiatives, and international academic collaborations.

Through her leadership of the College of Engineering Women in Engineering Society at AUS, Professor Ahmed actively promotes women’s participation, leadership, innovation, and professional development in engineering, fostering stronger connections between academia, industry, and the wider community.
